Margaret Cabernet Merlot Malbec
Wine
Woodlands Margaret Cabernet Merlot Malbec is sourced from the original Woodlands Vineyard established in 1973 in Wilyabrup, Margaret River.
It is typically three quarters Cabernet Sauvignon with the remainder a blend of Merlot and Malbec. All the fruit is handpicked.
The grapes are destemmed, hand sorted and crushed for fermentation in small stainless steel fermenters. Post ferment, the Cabernet sees extended maceration on skins to add complexity and ensure tannin integration.
The wine then matures for up to 18 months in French oak barrels, around 50% new.
Deep garnet, Woodlands Margaret Cabernet Merlot Malbec has mouth filling ripe fruits and a touch of spice with a fresh, lingering finish. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
